Follow Me Series: Who is the Greatest?
Matthew 6:5-8, 18:1-4
"And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.“And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him."
"At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them and said,“Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven."
We must be His Children
Jesus doesn't want you to come perfect, having everything already figured out.
He wants your honesty.
Just like how babies cannot give anything to their parents, yet their parents love them, God already loves us!
But as disciples, it's not about competition of being the greatest, but how we can be closer to God.
Discipleship is about YOU and God, not what other people think.
