Sermon Recap:

Follow Me Series: Look At Me

Matthew 14:28-32

"And Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.” He said,“Come.” So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus. But when he saw the wind,5he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out,“Lord, save me.” Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him,“O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased.

Keep your eyes on Jesus

  • You were created to look at Jesus's face. You were created to hear and do his words.

  • You are created in HIS image!

  • When we stop looking at Jesus, we become distracted and afraid of all that is going on around us.

  • When we look at Jesus, he gives us courage and peace and strength to face the world.

Sermon Reflection

  • What are the places in your life Jesus has asked and called you to step out in faith? Is it learning to forgive or be nicer to your siblings? Is it helping your parents with chores? Is it learning to control your anger, attitude, bad language?

  • Where have you felt distracted? Take this time to reflect and ask Jesus to help you focus again on what He is saying to you.

Sermon Recap:

Follow Me Series: Here's What I Have

John 6:9-13

"There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish, but what are they for so many?”Jesus said,“Have the people sit down.”Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, about five thousand in number. Jesus then took the loaves, and when he had given thanks, he distributed them to those who were seated. So also the fish, as much as they wanted. And when they had eaten their fill, he told his disciples,“Gather up the leftover fragments, that nothing may be lost.”So they gathered them up and filled twelve baskets with fragments from the five barley loaves left by those who had eaten."

What You Have is Enough

  • Whatever you have, no matter how little, if you bring it to Jesus, He will use it.

  • There is always enough for you in Jesus.

  • Let's be people who give what we have so that Jesus can use it to bless others.

Sermon Reflection

  • What do you have that you can bring to Jesus for him to use? Maybe it's your drawings or you doing your homework or helping your parents with chores?

  • How will you invite Jesus into these things?

SERMON RECAP:

Follow Me Series: Who is the Greatest?

Matthew 6:5-8, 18:1-4

"And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.“And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him."

"At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them and said,“Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven."

We must be His Children

  • Jesus doesn't want you to come perfect, having everything already figured out.

  • He wants your honesty.

  • Just like how babies cannot give anything to their parents, yet their parents love them, God already loves us!

  • But as disciples, it's not about competition of being the greatest, but how we can be closer to God.

  • Discipleship is about YOU and God, not what other people think.

Sermon Reflection

  • What are some ways that you have tried to please God for other people to see?

  • When have you felt like you needed to earn God's love for you?

  • How can you ask Jesus to help you and search your heart this week?

  • How can you embrace being a child of God?
